38. A Case for Rev. Billy Graham

The calling of a man of God does not come from the populace. It is not voted upon by any group of people, nor is it bequeathed upon a man by any other man or woman. The calling of a man of God is exactly that, a calling of and from the One True God, in the book of the Revelation, His name is Jesus Christ.
Before we talk about the man, let's talk about his God. The God of the Reverend Billy Graham is the God of the Bible. He is the God of the Genesis through the Revelation. He is the God of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He is the God of Abraham, Moses, Elijah; He is the God of the Hebrew people. His name is Yahweh, Adonai, Savior, Redeemer, Jehovah, Creator, and Lord. He is the King of the kings and the Lord of the lords, His name is Jesus. He created all things and without Him, nothing was made. He made the heavens and the earth and all that have dwelt upon the earth, including you and me.
He is the God of love and the God of judgment. Righteousness is in His right hand and with mercy and loving kindness He reigns supremely over all that is. He is Savior in that He has provided a way of escape for all of us, from the consequences of sin, into Himself through the saving grace in the blood atonement of Jesus Christ. He is all of this and He is forever more than we could ever imagine.
For more than fifty years, the Rev. Billy Graham has preached the gospel of Jesus Christ to millions of people across the world. His messages of grace, love, forgiveness of sin, of the need to be born again, and be made right in the eyes of a holy God are still communicated today by recorded messages, books, and various media stream, but most importantly, witnesses of the faith who were led to Jesus Christ as a result of the calling of the man of God who continue to express the gospel and will do so for years to come.
It is said of him, the Rev. Billy Graham, that he never endorsed a candidate for President. It is said of him that he did not get involved in politics so as not to mix the messages of religion and politics because of the confusion that may arise. It is now being said of him that he is not his own, that others are thinking and speaking for is being said. It is being said indeed by others who for their own personal quandary find themselves in disagreement with the man of God. Many things are being said, but is any of it the truth?
The problem that some people have with the Rev. Billy Graham now is that he has taken the 'cult' label off of the Mormon faith and has personally met with the Presidential candidate Mitt Romney. As a matter of fact, he is not endorsing a candidate as much as he is endorsing Biblical principles and complete adherance to those principles. As I stated in an earlier post, 'A Case for Mitt Romney', it is duly recognized that the judgments of the religious against the Mormon's faith, as well as, the judgments against all Catholics are unlawful before a Holy God who has told us who are of the faith that judgment is reserved for the One True God and not for us. We are certainly able to discern right from wrong, truth from untruth, light from dark, and sin from righteousness. Jesus Christ said:
Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye' and look a plank is in your own eye? 'Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.'"     (Matthew 7:1-5)
Again, as human beings and certainly as Christians, God gave us a mind and a conscience to use to discern right from wrong, and sin from holiness. It is what we do with these discernment's that carry us into personal judgments against another person, or an entire race, or creed of a people. No man has the right to judge another man to hell, for that is what this is really about with the religious fervor against the Mormons, the Catholics, and now, Billy Graham. The religious are exactly that, religious; they trade truth for law, mercy for rules, and loving kindness for self-interpretation. The gospel of Jesus Christ is His gospel, not any man's. Billy Graham always preached Jesus Christ unashamedly and truthfully in love, grace, and mercy; not in critical judgment. There is a tremendous difference in the relating of the gospel of Jesus Christ from the heart in all of these matters.
It is what is in the heart, after all, that the man of God has to use from his own personal experience to the hearts of the many who need a Savior. When man takes critical judgment upon himself to judge another man, he has taken the duty and righteousness of a just and holy God upon himself as the ruler over another man's soul. As humans, the word of God speaks very plainly, that is not our right, it is the right of a just, righteous, and holy God. That is why He said, "... do not to give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under your feet, and turn and tear you in pieces."  (Matthew 7:6). Righteous judgment is for a right judge. There is one true judge and that is God Himself. When humans take the judgment of others upon themselves, they tear other people up with their words and their flesh as dogs would with a defenseless creature condemning others to a fate that they themselves think they are above and are not. God, alone, is judge, His judgments are just and right.
The blasted confusion and degradation comes in now that I am saying you cannot think. No! I did not say you cannot think, you cannot discern right from wrong, or know sin from righteousness. What I am saying is that we do not have the right to condemn people to hell. We can tell them what we believe to be the Biblical truth and then they have the final say with the help of the Holy Spirit, or not. One of the reasons the world looks at the church's message is that they receive it in a spirit of condemnation rather than love. The main reason the world looks at the church with resentment, however, is that the world simply doesn't want to be told what to do about their personal sin.
This brings us to another problem and that is the cause of the world that certain individuals and groups would have against Billy Graham because he is supposed to be a religious man and should not be involved in politics. These are the people who have traded truth for a lie and have regarded themselves as little gods of their own domain and have left the God of the Bible for their own selfishness, entertainment, sports, political gods, money, addictions, and the list is endless as to what a person who does not want to hear about God can get themselves involved in.
These are the people who have believed the lie that there are laws concerning the separation of church and state. There is no such law in the Constitution of the United States, however, liberal ideologists have created the lie that there is and so, in the last 60 years these liberal thinkers have been able to persuade the uninformed to change federal, state, and local governmental policy which is contrary to the US Constitution. These people do not want God in anything, especially if it has to do with anything concerning the government, federal, state, or local, schools, sports, prayer, or Biblical teaching.
Amendment I of the Constitution reads:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
There is no law of separation of church and state, it is a lie. And, because people have been raised by a lie and have separated themselves from a Holy God, they do not want a religious person telling them what to do with the government. They want the political to be kept free from the religious. It was not so in the beginning. God is in all things. God has always been in all things. He is in the very breath that you breathe.

What has been done with this lie, however, is that the purveyors of the lie have told it so much, the majority of Americans believe it to be true. To further their cause for the elimination of religion, they have had lawmakers on the federal, state, and local levels to change the policies and rules that govern the employees of the specific government. This way, the separatist's get what they want because of the policy changes even though the policies are based on a lie.
Our forefathers have their writings taken out of context to try and prove the antithesis of agreement with our Creator. The proof of their agreement with our Creator is all over our nation, in their writings, and most especially in the halls of our federal buildings. Truth is written in the halls, the mantels, the walls, the doorposts, inside and out. Go to Washington, DC, yourself and see the liberty that was purchased for you and me with the blood of men and the assurance of their faith sketched into the granite, the marble, the wood, and the artwork. Go to the Library of Congress and see the Bibles that we have stored there for public viewing. There are museums there, but the word of God is not for a museum just to obeserve, it is proof that our forefathers loved, read, respected, and adored the word of God. Go and see for yourself that it was the Lord God who made us a nation and great men who followed and served a Mighty God. These men were farmers, soldiers, politicians, writers, industrialists, entrepreneurs, and on and on, and they had the faith in a just and holy God to deliver us as a nation to prosper us as He saw fit. Our trust is in God.
It is right and just that a man of God speak to the good and the ills of our nation. It is right and just for a man of God to speak for if that man is not allowed to speak, then who is allowed to speak? What spirit shall prevail if the man of God is not allowed to speak to the political?
It is right and just for men of God to speak to the political and to every area of life. It is right and just for the man of God to continue in his calling because it was God who called Billy Graham to the task of preaching truth and he will not answer to me or to you, he will answer to his God who is my God as well.

37. Jesus Christ's Words are Spirit

In John 6:63, Jesus said, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life."

The older I have become, the more I have come to realize that my ideas of God and the Word of God have come from the dwelling place of men's minds. Jesus said that His words are 'Spirit' and in my setting apart of my self in submission to Him, I acknowledge that within my self dwells no good thing, but 'in Him', the Spirit gives life. I have to move away from my own understanding of the things of God and move 'into' Him.

Daily, in the each and every moment, I must submit to Him, giving up the right to my self to dwell in His Spirit. It is only then that the words of Jesus Christ come alive and breathe life into me. His words are Spirit and can only be understood in the Spirit.

I have failed so many times, but now I know I don't have to.

Dwell in His Spirit today and see that the Kingdom of God is nearer than you think.

For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure. The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on Him.                           (John 3:34-36)
